Your assistants, with receipts.
Caute is the library under whichever assistant you use. Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini can search what you have caught and cite the passage they used, under rules you set.
Connect one in a minute
Claude, ChatGPT and any assistant that takes an MCP server connect with Caute’s address and a sign-in. You choose the spaces it may read and what it may do, on a screen that names both, and you can disconnect it at any time, with effect on its next request.
Keep what it cited
When an assistant saves a conversation to Caute, the sources its answers cited are kept as cards beside it, so a link that breaks next year still has its page.
Short, cited context
An assistant asks Caute for the best passages for a task and gets them short and cited, grouped by the card they came from, with your own highlights first. Everything it is given is labelled as quoted material, not instructions, so a saved page can’t tell it what to do.
How well that works is measured on a public benchmark, in numbers anyone can rerun.
Whether an assistant asks for that context at the start of a task is up to it, so Caute shows you, for each one connected, how often it was given context and when last, or that it was connected and never asked. Checked by hand so far: Claude Code (version 2.1.307, on 2026-10-22) asked first, in two of two runs. Other assistants have not been checked yet.
In the chat itself
In an assistant that shows apps inside the conversation, Claude and ChatGPT among them, a result from Caute is a card: the passage it found, your highlights on it, and the properties a processor suggested, with Keep and Dismiss. Select words in the passage to highlight them, or keep the pages a saved conversation cited, without leaving the chat. Each tap is one request under the same connection, so the card can do nothing the assistant couldn’t.
