Kept as it was.

Everything Caute catches has a capture record, written once by Caute when it was caught. Nobody can change it, you included.

When, how and from where

The record says when it was really caught, how it arrived (the browser extension, an upload, an email, a fetch), and who caught it. For a page Caute fetched, it adds the address asked for, where it arrived, and what the server answered.

A fingerprint of the original

It keeps a fingerprint (SHA-256) of the original’s bytes as caught. Check this copy, on the card, says whether the copy kept here still matches it.

An export carries the record with every original, and caute verify checks a folder of them on your own computer. Either way the answer is only whether a copy has changed since it was caught.
