Caute and Pocket.

If you kept the file Pocket's export sent you, Caute can read it today. Each link is saved again with its tags and the date you saved it, and Caute keeps a copy of the page this time.

Pocket closed on 2025-07-08.

In their words

“Pocket lets you export your saved items so you can download a backup or view them in other formats.”

Side by side

Your links
Pocket: In the export's CSV, with their tags
Caute: Each one saved with its date and tags, privately in your inbox
The pages' text
Pocket: Not in the export
Caute: Read again from each address and kept; a page gone from the web stays a link, listed with the import

What is the same

  • Both save a page from the browser in one click.
  • Both keep your tags on what you save.

Choose another app if

  • You only want a list of links to read once and let go. A bookmark manager or your browser's reading list does that with less to learn.
  • You want a reading app first and a library second. An app built around its reading view will suit you better.

Move to Caute if

  • You want the page kept, not only the link, so one that breaks later still has its words.
  • You want to find the sentence later, by its words or by what it means.
  • You want Claude, ChatGPT or another assistant to search what you saved and cite the passage it used.
  • You want to know what happens if the service closes: Caute promises at least ninety days' notice, with export working until the end.

Moving from Pocket

  1. Find the CSV file from Pocket's export, often called part_000000.csv.
  2. In Caute, open Settings, then Import a library, and choose Import from Pocket.
  3. Choose the file. Caute reads each link in the background and shows how many it added.

An export file made from Pocket still imports. Pocket offered exports until 2025-11-12.

Questions

What if a page is gone from the web?

Caute keeps the link with its title and tags, and lists the links it could not read beside the import, so you can see which ones.

Will importing the file twice make duplicates?

No. Importing the same file again adds nothing twice.

Who can see what I import?

Only you. Everything lands in your private inbox, and nothing is shared until you move it into a shared space.

Caute compares itself to products people ask about. Prices and features are theirs, checked on the date shown, and change without notice. Tell us at support@axionarylabs.com if something here is out of date.
