Caute and Raindrop.

Raindrop keeps your bookmarks in order. Caute keeps the pages behind them, and finds the sentence you remember. If a sorted list of links is what you want, Raindrop is built for that.

“All-in-one bookmark manager”

Side by side

What is the same

  • Both save links from the browser in one click.
  • Both keep highlights on what you save.
  • Both let an assistant search your library over MCP.

Stay with Raindrop if

  • You want a bookmark manager: links sorted into collections, and little else to learn.
  • You share collections with other people and work on them together, on the free plan.

Move to Caute if

  • You want the page kept, not only the link, so one that breaks later still has its words, on the free plan.
  • You want to find the sentence later, by its words or by what it means.
  • You keep more than links: files, email, recordings and your own notes.
  • You want your assistants to read your library on the free plan.

Moving from Raindrop

  1. In Raindrop, open Settings, then Backups, and export as CSV.
  2. In Caute, open Settings, then Import a library, and choose Import from Raindrop.
  3. Choose the file. Caute reads each link again and keeps the page; collections become tags under raindrop/.

Questions

Do my collections come across?

Yes, as tags under raindrop/. Caute has tags rather than folders, and a card can carry several.

Will importing the file twice make duplicates?

No. Importing the same file again adds nothing twice.

Who can see what I import?

Only you. Everything lands in your private inbox, and nothing is shared until you move it into a shared space.
